Clean Technologies

Clean Technologies

Clean technologies or green technologies are processes, products, or services that reduces adverse environmental impacts through a variety of activities such as energy efficiency improvements, the sustainable use of resources, or  protecting  natural environmental. That means that Clean technologies are type of technologies that consumes energy, water and other inputs more efficiently and effectively, with less toxicity and waste. For businesses, it improves customer profitability, by carrying out cost reduction and increases revenue. Clean technologies includes a wide range of technologies related to recycling, renewable energy like wind power, solar power, biomass, hydropower, biofuels, etc. Apart from their technology innovativeness, these  clean technology projects have proven that feasible projects can obtain financing through the generation of carbon credits. Most of the projects under cleaner technologies  can be designated as the carbon projects as these can be developed with concern for climate change mitigation.

The emergence of the clean technologies owes to a  large number of factors which includes its role  as an investment category that has attracted mainstream venture capital firms along with clean technology funds. Demand for clean technologies has grown at a significant rate during the last decade and has created the growth of billion dollar markets, which continue to increase  at a substantial rate. The clean technology market has been driven by a merger of technological advancements resource constraints, and economic trends that positions clean technologies for sustained growth.

Enterprises in the developing countries find themselves at a critical juncture. The current financial and economic crisis is putting intense pressure on them to be more efficient and more responsive to market demands if they are to survive. At the same time, long-term environmental trends, particularly climate change will require some fundamental changes to the way enterprises do business. It is critical that industry in the developing countries, as one of the primary motors of development, continues to grow, but at the same time, governments in the developing countries have to ensure that this growth is sustainable.
